HOW TO MAKE YOUR ROOM LOOK SPACIOUS WITH VENETIAN BLINDS

Venetian blinds are made from slats of materials you want for your room. The slats are elongated narrow pieces of sheets that prevent light from inflowing to rooms, and are attached to straps and wires that hold them in conformed spaces of the blinds. The type of a venetian blind is determined by the size, texture and the nature of the edges (whether sharp or soft/smooth) of the component slats. Creating a stylish design on the surface of the slat will give it a nice definition and a high end look to suit your room. The following are five tips that will for sure make your room look more spacious:

Use few average-sized slats- This will allow more light to get into the room than when the slats are big and few or small and many. The increased lighting will supersize the look of your room and add life to it. But if your window faces the sun when it is at its peak of heat then you can go for wider slat sizes so that less gets to seep into the room. On the contrary, if your window faces away from the sun or is blocked from it by features like say: trees and tall buildings, medium to small slat sizes will be ideal.

Use bigger venetian blinds- Enlarging your windows, by making them ceiling to floor glass doors and choosing bigger venetian blinds will permeate more light into your room. And this light is cast uniformly over the whole space thus creating an illusion of space. Select a venetian blind that covers a significant portion of your room’s height.

Use blinds with smooth surfaced and well-polished slats- Smooth and polished surfaces are good reflectors of light. The light reflected from the slats on the blinds will be cast across the entire room thus making the room’s space appear larger and wider.

Use light-colored blinds- White colored blinds are the most appropriate if you’re interested in creating an illusion of space in your room. The walls too should be of similar colors so as to complement the blinds in creating a sense of enlarged space. Light-colored Venetian blinds will reflect more light than those made of dull colors, the light cast in your room will make the room appear bigger and larger than it really is.

Avoid placing shelves and other obstructions close to the window- Make the blind pronounced by ensuring that it is not obstructed by any other thing for its features to be clearly visible and more light is permeated through it. This will make the room appear bigger and wider.

Give the slats a degree of slant- Slats in Venetian blinds are usually horizontal, giving them a certain degree of slant will permeate more light and give the blind more prominence. Making the slats have a downward slant is the most appropriate for this kind of blind, and you can change the direction of the slant depending on the position of the sun on the earth’s orbit. This will make the room appear bigger.
